The Story

Some stories begin long before the camera starts rolling.

I'm moving to Florida.

For over sixty years, twin sisters Linda and Patty have never really been apart. When Patty suddenly decides to leave her old life behind for a fresh start in Florida, Linda does what she’s always done: she shows up.

The road trip becomes a story about sisterhood, independence, reinvention, and the complicated process of figuring out who you are when the life you’ve known begins to change.

— ASHLEY RALPH’S GRANDMOTHER (featured above)

Listen Linda explores the possibility of coming of age later in life — and the idea that self-discovery and reinvention should not be defined at any age. The film was inspired by Ashley Ralph’s grandmother moving to The Villages, Florida, at sixty after years spent caring for others. Her experience became the emotional foundation for Patty’s journey.

Growing Up a Twin

Patty and Linda’s relationship is also rooted in Ashley Ralph’s experience growing up as a twin: the tug-of-war between independence and connection, the comfort and complexity of a shared identity, and the fear of discovering who you are outside of it. At its heart, this is a story about unconditional love within sisterhood and a bestfriend.
